Inspiration Andrea Gaydos Landau is an artist and designer
that approached us to facilitate her furniture design process. She
wants to create a series of chair components which come together
in many different permutations. She found that other mediums, such
as physical protoypes, would make her design process far too expensive
and slow.
Solution We provided Andrea with models of her chair
in many different configurations. These models have been key developmental
tools in informing her design process and avoiding unnecessary fabrication
fees. They help her to immediately see which combinations work well,
which don't, and which components to tweak to make the series function
together.
Jacob Chair is still currently under development, and is slated
for completion in November. The picture above shows the current
state of the project. Soon, it will be a complete series, viewable
as an online configurator.
